October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Teachers who witness bullying should intervene immediately, assure the bullied child that it is not their fault, and address the behavior with the bully.

Art students at Maumelle Middle school will be decorating pumpkins this week in class. Families are encouraged to participate in a drive-thru pumpkin showcase this Thursday (October 29) to see the final work. The pumpkins will be on display outside, so all you have to do is drive-thru to see them all! We hope you can stop by!

Vision and Hearing Screenings will take place on Tuesday, October 27 from 9:00-3:00 in the library. The screenings are for 6th and 8th grade students only. Virtual students may attend, but have to make an appointment by calling our school nurse, Amy Davidson, at 501-234-4505.

We love and appreciate our volunteers! PCSSD is allowing volunteers to assist with schools this year (2020-2021). However, volunteers are asked to follow the PCSSD protocols put in place during COVID-19. Additionally, volunteers are asked to follow any school-specific guidelines put in place by building administrators. If volunteer who enters the building with the expectation of being inside for more than 15 minutes, must complete the building entry screening survey. This is the same screening protocol that staff complete each day. Of course, volunteers can assist without being in the school building, too.
