On Thursday, December 12th, the Robinson MIddle School PTO will be hosting a Holiday Luncheon for our wonderful teachers, staff, and administrators! Volunteers are needed to provide soups, rolls, drinks, and desserts, as well as to help decorate/set up, serve lunch, and clean up afterwards. Several PCSSD teacher librarians attended the American Association of School Librarians Conference in Louisville, KY. They learned how to create diverse collections, build collaborative partnerships and develop innovative teaching practices.

This is American Education Week and the National Education Association today promotes parental involvement, including reading to children, checking homework, asking about their school day and developing a relationship with teachers. #pcssdproud #equityandexcellence #AEW2019

REMINDER: schools will be closed next week (Nov. 25 - Nov. 29) for Fall Break. Central office will be only be closed Thursday (Nov. 28) and Friday (Nov. 29).

Picture make-up day is scheduled for December 9th for any student who was absent or would like a re-take. PALS (People Assisting Local Schools) Volunteer Hours are due November 22. Anyone who has volunteered in any capacity from February 23,2019 - November 22,2019, should email their time to Toni Scott at: tscott4418@pcssd.org Besides actual participation in volunteering for events, Volunteers can count their travel and preparation time for each activity. Also if you have donated and shopped for donations for dances, teacher gifts, luncheons/breakfasts,etc.... All that counts towards hours. Chaperoning any event, assisting teachers with activities, fundraisers, tutoring students, library helpers, weekend events,etc...It all matters! Your time is valuable and we are so appreciative and grateful of how very generous you all are in sharing yours with the students and staff of Robinson Middle! -- Robinson Middle School has received the honor of having the highest number of volunteer hours for the last 14 years!!! Yearbooks News... Yearbooks are on sale now! Buy yours at www.balfour.com by December 1st and pay only $25.00. After 12/1, the cost will be $30.00. Final order deadline is January 25th. You can also buy and create ads for your child or business on the Balfour.com site. We also need your photos! It takes lots of photos to make the yearbook great and include as many students and activities as possible. You can upload photos directly from your smartphone using the Balfour Image Share app. Download the app then create your account using our schools project code 001280. You can also upload pics from a computer to www.images.balfour.com. Encourage your students to share their photos too! November is Child Safety and Protection Month. The National Safety Council and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration encourage teen drivers to put down their cell phones, slow down and wear a seatbelt.

FCCLA is hosting a canned food drive for Arkansas Food Bank from Monday, November 11th - Wednesday, November 20th! Our hope is to collect 500 cans! Each 1st period teacher will be given a box and wish list flyers for your classroom! The winning 1st period class will receive a cookie party and each student will receive 20 PBIS points! Thank you! Monday, November 11, 2019 is Veteran’s Day! Giving back is so important and we truly want our students to understand the importance of supporting those that have served in the Armed Forces. In honor of our Veterans, we are asking families to make a donation of any size to be given to Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System. Donations will be taken during the 1st period classes. All funds will be submitted to the organization to support veterans in need. https://www.littlerock.va.gov/ https://www.littlerock.va.gov/giving/index.asp Additionally, RMS staff and students are asked to dress in camouflage or military style clothing in support of Veterans. Thank you for taking time to share this news with your child. PCSSD/ RMS READING CHALLENGE BEGINS ON NOVEMBER 11, 2019 For the next 7 weeks, RMS will ask all students to read at least 30 minutes or more each night. Students will receive credit for reading in their Social Studies Class. We need all families to support this initiative as reading nightly will help improve student comprehension. Students are expected to log minutes read and pages read. An assessment after reading a book will be given. The school with the highest reading minutes and has evidence to prove that will win a field trip from PCSSD. Let’s Read and Win This Challenge!!!
