September was Attendance Awareness Month and we challenged all students to be a H.E.R.O. Students were tasked to be Here...Everyday...Ready...On time and we had some great results! MILLS UNIVERSITY STUDIES HIGH had 3/4 weeks with 95% or higher attendance, with 1 week at 94%.

During the school year, MILLS UNIVERSITY STUDIES HIGH has the opportunity for TWO students to represent our school and student body at the monthly Board of Education meetings. Last night, senior Jaiya Arrington represented our school at the October meeting. We're so thankful for her hard work and willingness to represent the Comets. Way to go, Jaiya! Our next rep will be in February.




PCSSD and MILLS UNIVERSITY STUDIES HIGH have a number of fine arts programs, including art. The school offers a number of art classes for students to work on new and existing skills. Other fine arts programs will be highlighted throughout the month!

Congratulations to the newly sworn-in members of the PCSSD Teen Court for MILLS UNIVERSITY STUDIES HIGH! Teen Court is a class for students to hear cases of offenses committed by other students in the school and implement restorative justice principles. Students from MILLS UNIVERSITY STUDIES HIGH attended a college and career fair today at UA-Little Rock. PCSSD hosted the event for all juniors and senior high school students. It was a great opportunity to explore college and career options within the state as well as surrounding states.

Mills University Studies High is hard at work for our students! After school, faculty collaborated to identify best practices when it comes to teaching focused note-taking strategies. These strategies will improve student engagement and academic achievement.





This is Earth Science Week, a week to encourage people to better care for, preserve, and appreciate the Earth. Earth Science Week began in 1998 by the American Geosciences Institute. This year's theme is "Geoscience Innovating for Earth and People." #pcssdproud #serveall

The September attendance challenge officially ended last Friday. 8 out 16 elementary and *all* of our secondary schools had at least one week of 95% attendance. Way to go!
