PULASKI COUNTY, Ark. -- Art students at Joe T. Robinson Middle School are learning about artist Jean-Michel Basquiat. He was a groundbreaking artist that began developing his style on the streets and made it popular as an artform that influenced Neo-Expressionism.
Basquiat remains influential through his cultural impact as an “outsider” and an unconventional figure whose style taught us the simplification of the Elements of Art and Principles of Design.
Students created art pieces which will be on display throughout the Central Arkansas Library System branches during the month of February. The works exhibit digital and applied media and art techniques combined in artwork influenced by the style of Basquiat.
