(Little Rock, Ark.) -- Robinson High School students plan to dedicate an entire week to show support and stand up for fellow students and friends with Down Syndrome. All students, staff and faculty are invited to participate the week of October 7 - 11; October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month.
Each day the students have been asked to wear a different color or clothing to show support for those with Down Syndrome.
Monday: Wear blue to support your friends with Down Syndrome
Tuesday: Wear yellow to support your friends with Down Syndrome
Wednesday: Wear your crazy socks and show you’re crazy about being part of the change
Thursday: Wear tie-dyed shirts to show you’re not “tied-up” in labels
Friday: Wear crazy socks all day and during the game!
Robinson High School students with the craziest socks will receive gift cards. Students are also encouraged to donate pocket change and the class with the most donations will also win a prize.
Additionally, Robinson High School will recognize Down Syndrome Awareness month at their home football game on Friday, October 11. Al Hunt, Michael Joe Lanari, Stephen Lynch and Nicholas Woods will be honorary captains and participate in the coin toss. Football players, band, cheerleaders and student body will wear yellow and blue to help raise awareness, such as crazy socks or glow-in-the-dark Down Syndrome Awareness wristbands.
