School Counseling

The Pulaski County Special School District School Counseling Department provides leadership in the development and implementation of a comprehensive school counseling program in 25 elementary and secondary schools. Thirty-two counselors serve students in grades K -12 in the areas of academic, social/emotional, and college/career readiness. The school counseling program focuses on providing services and activities that target positive student outcomes. These activities range from

  • preventive classroom guidance activities
  • individual and group counseling
  • referrals to community agencies
  • consultation with teachers, parents, administrators, and community leaders
  • crisis intervention
  • assessment interpretation

The mission of the PCSSD counselors is to provide a proactive, data-driven program that serves the needs of all stakeholders. PCSSD counselors believe:

  • All students should have access to a comprehensive school counseling program in a safe and inclusive environment.
  • All students can learn and be successful.
  • All students have the ability to adapt to an ever-changing technological society

The mission of the Robinson Middle School Counseling Program is to decrease barriers to academic achievement through student advocacy and to promote student success through a focus on academic achievement, social/personal, career, and multicultural/global citizenship development.

Schedule changes can be picked up in the counselor's office or through the advisory classroom. Student schedules will only be changed with a valid reason and need the signature of advisory teacher or parent. Changes will be based on highest priority.

Online Counseling Referral Services

Counselor Referral Form
Responsive Services includes the process of referring individual students to the School Counselor (SC). Throughout the referral process, the SC reviews local school board policies and consults and collaborates with teachers, parents, administrators, other school staff, and/or outside agencies on behalf of students. A formal referral system facilitates gathering and analyzing information systematically and objectively to plan for the students’ social/emotional, academic, and career development.
